NEW ACQUISITIONS, DONATIONS, DEPOSITIONS
PRESS RELEASE
Pori Art Museum is currently showcasing a selection of works acquired, donated, or deposited between 1982 and 1989. The exhibition emphasizes acquisitions made over the past two years.
Many of the displayed works were previously featured in the museum’s exhibitions. The museum has aimed to integrate its research, exhibition activities, and collection-building into mutually supportive and documenting areas of focus. However, several significant events from recent years (Leonhard Lapin’s “Blooming Architectonics”, Richard Long’s “White Foot Circles”, Daniel Buren’s “4 couleurs pour un patio”, Siim-Tanel Annus’ “Transaction”, etc.) remain only as memories, photo documentation, or publications due to their unique and ephemeral nature.
Some of the museum’s collection installations (Jan-Erik Andersson’s Yves Klein tappelee kolmioita, neliöitä ja ympyröitä vastaan (Yves Klein Fights Triangles, Squares, and Circles), Ismo Kajander’s La vie claire, and the NYTE artist group from Pori with Eräs Marssi (A Certain March) are currently part of the regional art museum’s touring exhibitions within the province.
The exhibition includes works by the following artists:
Martti Aiha, Anne Alho, Jan-Erik Andersson, Harry Callahan (USA), Anthony Caro (England), Kari Cawén, Radoslaw Gryta, Philippe Favier (France), Jan Groth (Norway), Päivi Jokinen, Ulla Jokisalo, Kaisu Koivisto, Matti Kujasalo, Lauri Laine, Leonhard Lapin (Estonian SSR), Maija Lavonen, Rauni Liukko, Raul Meel (Estonian SSR), Henry Merimaa, Arno Rafael Minkkinen (USA), Mox Mäkelä, Jaakko Niemelä, Richard Nonas (USA), Jüri Okas (Estonian SSR), Paul Osipow, Marta Maria Perez (Cuba), Unto Pusa, Georges Rousse (France), Silja Rantanen, työryhmä Salong 3+ (Anna-Maija Aarras, Ann Sundholm, Sussi Henrikson), Kimmo Sarje, Johan Scott, Veijo Setälä, Ossi Somma, George Steinmann (Switzerland) and John Walker (England).
