CZECHOSLOVAK CONTEMPORARY PRINTMAKING, FIGURINES AND MEDALS
PRESS RELEASE
Contemporary Czechoslovakian visual art is undergoing a significant phase of development, with socialist realism serving as its predominant creative method. This approach is not enforced upon artists but is open to all talents who strive to truthfully portray and honor the distinctive features of a revolutionary, evolving reality. While this method previously suffered from both dogmatic and formalist distortions, it is now characterized by a fusion of profound artistic content and progressive social engagement, resulting in a wealth of themes, motifs, forms, and styles. In socialist realism, this diversity is increasingly seen as equally vital as the truthful representation of existing reality.
In Czechoslovak socialist realist art, there are no conflicts or struggles between generations. Artists of different generations and age groups each contribute uniquely to the nation’s socialist culture.
The exhibition features the following artists: Albín Brunovský, Ladislav Čepelák, Josef Černý, Orest Dubay, Vladimír Gazovič, Jan Holoubek, Karel Hruška, Jaroslav Chudomel, Dušan Kállay, Ladislav Kuklík, Jan Otava, Jarmila Pavlíčková, František Peterka, Josef Saska, Ivan Schurmann, Matěj Svoboda, Emilie Tomanová, Tibor Bártfay, Jan Hána, Jan Hendrych, Zdeněk Kolářský, Ludwik Korkoš, Ladislav Kozák, Jiří Kryštůfek, Ján Kulich, Karol Lacko, Josef Malejovský, Miroslav Pangrác, Klára Patakiová, Štefan Prokop, Luboš Růžička, Jan Simota, Ladislav Snopek, Jan Václav Straka, Rudolf Svoboda, Michal Vitanovský, and Jiří Vlach.
