TIME CAPSULE – Jan Ijäs
Time Capsule was shot at a tenhectare land area owned by the Belgian artist Louis de Cordier above the snowline in the Sierra Nevada mountains in Spain, where de Cordier has built a library and a seed bank of genetically non-modified plants. The location at an altitude of more than 2,000 metres with small temperature fluctuations and a dry climate slows the inevitable decay over time. The architecture of the buildings borrows from the design language of the visionary American architect and theorist Buckminster Fuller and it is designed to last at least the next 10 000 years.
