A TRIP WITH YOUR OWN TOY / TAIDEmatka oman lelun kanssa
During autumn 2015, Pori’s kindergarten and school children will visit the Toygiants exhibition at the Art Museum together with their own toys. During the autumn, the toys have also been made in workshops at the Art Museum on the theme of environmental education. The toys are made from recycled materials, which have been given a new life as toy robots by the children.
The TAIDE tour will introduce the toy, fantasy and collectible characters from Daniel & Geo Fuchs’ Toygiants photo series. They will discover familiar characters, discuss children’s own collecting hobbies and their own toys and games. The toys you bring along on your trip will be shown to others. Inspired by the Toygiants exhibition, the children arrange their own toys to be photographed by arranging them in group portraits of their choice. Each child’s toy has its own story, and in building the group photo, the children also tell and play with the toys to tell a common story.
The tour guides and photographers for TAIDEmatkat are visual artist Toni Lehtola and Anne Roininen and Mirja Ramstedt-Salonen from the Art Museum’s Pedagogical Unit.
