PORI SOCIETY OF ARTISTS’ 40TH ANNIVERSARY EXHIBITION
PRESS RELEASE
To celebrate its four-decade journey, the Pori Society of Artists is organizing an exhibition at the Pori Art Museum. The works for the exhibition were selected by a three-member jury consisting of the association’s chairman, Pertti Ala-Outinen, Vaasa-based painter Veikko Takala, and Turku-based sculptor Maarit Nissilä. The exhibition features approximately fifty works. Additionally, former chairpersons of the association—Kauko Räike, Aarne Elomaa, Juhani Tarna, and Anja Karkku-Hohti—were invited to participate. Memorial groups have been assembled to showcase works by the late artists Ensio Lamberg, Sulo Salmi, and Immo Tuominen.
One of the key missions of the Pori Society of Artists has been advocating for improved visual art services. Many proposals have been repeatedly presented to decision-makers over the years. The association, which currently has 42 members, is undergoing a generational shift. A significant change in membership has occurred within a few years, bringing new art forms such as performance art, installation art, and environmental art into focus.
