YOUNG ART OF THE SOVIET UNION

PRESS RELEASE

The Young Art Of The Soviet Union exhibition has been organized by the USSR Union of Artists. The exhibition features 75 artists, including 43 painters, 14 graphic artists, and 18 artisans. This exhibition is part of the collaboration agreement between the USSR Union of Artists and the Artists’ Association of Finland, which previously included the solo exhibition of artist Andulis Zarins in Helsinki and Kemi, as well as the exhibition of Finnish art in Moscow in 1981.

The young art of the Soviet Union, which has recently garnered widespread international attention, is described in the preface to the exhibition catalog as follows:

“A new generation of artists is expanding the boundaries of Soviet art and reinterpreting the life of the modern individual. The themes of this younger generation are broader than ever. These young artists are drawn to moral, philosophical, and humanistic issues, striving for synthesis in their depictions. The most essential feature of these efforts is the spiritual richness of their images and their appreciation of the individual. Their interest in the heritage of the past and in folk art enriches their work and supports their creative endeavors. At the same time, they bear responsibility for the fate of 20th-century culture and feel accountable for its future.”
