FOUR PAINTERS
PRESS RELEASE
The Pori Art Museum is organising a joint exhibition of four artists, Erik Granfelt, Anitra Lucander, Per Stenius and Rafael Ward, with the aim of shedding more light on the work of these painters, who are close to each other. It is also an opportunity to look at Finnish colour painting from a different perspective – the artists on show are often seen as a ‘group’, characterised by a delicate painterliness, mostly based on natural impressions, and for whom a particular common denominator is a precisely harmonious colourism.
The exhibition aims to present the artists’ work retrospectively from the early 1950s to the present day. There are 141 paintings on display, as well as a number of drawings and collages on loan from the collections of various museums and institutions and from numerous private individuals.
The exhibition was selected in collaboration with the artists, with the expertise of Master C.-J. af Forselles. He has also written an article for the exhibition brochure and biographies of the artists.
The Pori Art Museum would like to thank the artists and Master C.-J. af Forselles for their pleasant cooperation and all the people who have lent their works to the exhibition for making it possible to realise the exhibition as planned.
