PRINTMAKING – MARE VINT

PRESS RELEASE

Estonian artist Mare Vint is a versatile and internationally acclaimed graphic artist. In addition to her work in printmaking, she is an active illustrator of children’s books and creates posters and other applied graphics. Vint has participated in numerous international print exhibitions, earning awards at biennales in Ljubljana and Rijeka.

Born in Tallinn in 1942, Vint attended the Estonian State Art Institute from 1962 to 1967, specializing in glass art. After initially teaching art in middle schools, she decided to pursue a career as a freelance artist in 1969.

According to Estonian art critic Martti Soosaar, Vint’s works embody a blend of emotion and intellect, all while preserving a distinctly feminine, romantic rhythm. Although her images may appear visually pleasing at first glance, they often reveal a deeper layer — a kind of hidden reality beneath the surface. Her art strikes a balance between feeling and intellect, as well as between nature and geometry.

A selection of 13 unique lithographs by Mare Vint is currently on display at the museum café until May 6th. Following this, the exhibition will move to the Soviet Union’s Science and Culture Center.
