Tanya Akhmetgalieva, Kyllikki Haavisto, Hanna-Riikka Heikkilä
Tanya Akhmetgalieva (b. 1983)
Despite her young age, Tanya Akhmetgalieva has gained widespread recognition both in her home country and internationally. Her works are included in several private collections in Russia and Europe. In Finland, her art is represented in the collections of the Pori Art Museum as well as the Espoo Museum of Modern Art (EMMA). Tanya Akhmetgalieva lives and works in both St. Petersburg and Moscow.
Kyllikki Haavisto (b. 1957)
The layered nature of Kyllikki Haavisto’s works leaves the viewer perplexed. Images and themes intertwine, overlap, merge, and separate again. Even when the subject matter or message of a work seems obvious, the multiplicity of meanings cannot be confined. The layers in her works hold the potential for numerous interpretations, where the conclusions might, in the next instance, contradict the initial perspective.
Hanna-Riikka Heikkilä (b. 1979)
Hanna-Riikka Heikkilä paints with a brush that traces seemingly tentative lines. Her hand searches its path, wandering across the surface of the painting—sometimes as a delicate thread, at other times as a strong rope. Her lines traverse bold shapes, broad brushstrokes, and vivid color fields, creating an internal space within their two-dimensional world. Simultaneously, recognizable figures and elements seem to emerge from her abstract, color-driven backgrounds.
