WATERCOLOR PAINTINGS – ERKKI HIRVELÄ, INARI KROHN AND CARL WARGH

PRESS RELEASE

Three Finnish watercolourists, Erkki Hirvelä, Inari Krohn and Carl Wargh, will present an exhibition based on a shared theme at the turn of the year. The starting point is the environment, sometimes even the same subjects, which each artist has interpreted in his own way.

Erkki Hirvelä (b.1937) lives in Jämsä and is one of the best representatives of visual art in Central Finland. He studied at The Fine Arts Academy of Finland from 1959-61 and has participated in exhibitions since 1964. He has also been involved in visual arts organisations throughout his artistic career.

Inari Krohn (b. 1945) is above all a warm storyteller and colourist. She studied at The Fine Arts Academy of Finland from 1965-69 and in France. Her works have been shown in numerous Finnish and international exhibitions since 1968.

Carl Wargh (b.1938) captures the essence of his subjects with his sketchy, painterly technique. Nature, its landscapes and views of houses have always been his main inspiration. Carl Wargh has studied at The Fine Arts Academy of Finland, the Finnish Institute of Art and Design and the Oska Kokoschka School of Painting in Austria. He has worked as an art critic for Kansan Uutiset, Nya Pressen, Huvudstadsbladet and as a teacher of visual arts, in addition to his work as a painter. He has participated in national and international exhibitions since 1962 and his work has been included in numerous collections.
