EAST ASIAN VIDEO FRAMES: SEOUL, Yang Ah Ham

The third destination: Seoul. Internationally recognized Yang Ah Ham (b. 1968) with her work “The Nonsense Factory” opens the year focusing on South Korean contemporary art scene. Ham works both in Amsterdam and in Seoul. Her art works are known to shed light on the topical issues in contemporary society— caused often by globalization. Originally, “The Nonsense Factory” installation (2013) consists of six parts which address themes such as the “iconomy” happiness as ideology, capitalism, cultural snobbery in art field , the insecurity of idealistic values and the infinite competition. For us, Ham has re-created a single channel video work of the installation.
