Carolus Enckell
“Painting is at its purest when it rejects all symbolic and allegorical meanings, positing subjective interpretation in their stead,” wrote Carolus Enckell in 1992. Known as a painter and skilful writer, it has been said that art for Enckell is a manifestation of “true,” original life in an aesthetic, universal form. In conjunction with the exhibition, the Pori Art Museum will publish a book of essays by Enckell in the museum´s TUTKA series of studies on art. The book is edited by Jorma Hautala and Jaakko Lintinen.
