Children’s own art museum

Our exhibitions offer experiences and wonders for the whole family. We organize guided exhibition tours and workshops for children and families during each exhibition season. Children under the age of seven should be accompanied by an adult. Language in the workshops is Finnish but non-Finnish speakers can get quidance in English. Tickets 5 € per maker, accompanying adults are free.

Drop-in autumn holiday activities in the workshop space: Create your own figure
17-18 October and 24-25 October, Saturday-Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm.
In this self-guided autumn holiday workshop, you can create your own character using a selection of pre-prepared materials. Take your finished character home with you! The self-guided workshop will be open in the museum’s workshop space. Materials fee: 2 €.

 

Autumn Holiday Art Workshop: Colourful Textile Printing 21 October, 12-2 pm, drop-in / 5 €

Create your own unique textile artwork using fabric paints. Paint a tote bag, T-shirt or piece of cotton fabric.  The painted fabric can later be sewn into a cushion cover, pouch or tote bag at home. You may also bring your own tote bag, T-shirt or light-coloured fabric. Please note that the material must be light-coloured cotton or another natural fibre. Tote bags are available for the first 15 participants.

Autumn Holiday Art Workshop for Teens 22 October, 12-2 pm, drop-in
Create your own abstract artwork in this autumn holiday workshop for teens. Using acrylic paints, you’ll experiment with colour mixing and paint with silicone scrapers rather than traditional brushes. No prior experience is needed, just bring your curiosity and creativity! Participation with the City of Pori’s Nuorisopassi (Youth Pass).

Children’s Saturday: Guided Exhibition Tour & Art Workshop
7 November, 10.00-11.30 am / 5 €

Explore Grace Ndiritu’s PoriPostModern exhibition together with a guide and create your own artwork in the workshop afterwards. Children below school age must be accompanied by an adult. Participation fee: 5 € per child. Adults enter with a museum admission ticket or a Museum Card.

Children’s Saturday: Christmas Art Workshop 5 December 10 am-12 pm, drop in / 5 €

Create your own Christmas cards and festive decorations with fun stencil technique. The workshops is designed for the whole family.


Tähtihetkiä-backpacks in Pori Museums
You can borrow a Tähtihetkiä-backpack full of activities to take with you to the exhibitions. Loaning is free of charge. The activity backpacks are designed for children aged 3-10 and offer fun ways to explore the exhibition. The backpacks have been produced with the support of the Pori Children and Youth Protection Foundation. Check out the backpacks at other Pori Museums as well!


Visiting the art museum

  • Please walk around the exhibition spaces calmly and without touching the artworks. It’s ok to chat, wonder, cry and laugh in our museum.
  • The exhibitions are located on the first floor and it is easy to move around with the trolleys/strollers.
  • The workshop space on the second floor is accessible by stairs and lift.
  • You can borrow a baby carrier or a stroller.
  • Baby changing stations are located in the restrooms on both floors.
  • Breastfeeding is possible in the cafeteria.
  • Not all exhibitions may be suitable for children, so please check the museum’s website for more information and ask the customer service staff. However, there is always something to see and experience for all ages.
